The award recognises the transformation of a underutilised site into a highly sustainable new headquarters campus for Unilever, while helping to re-establish this important island site as an active gateway into Kingston. Judges praised the scheme for representing regeneration in its truest sense, combining commercial impact with wider value for the borough and local community.
Winners, chosen for their growth, diversification, and ability to overcome unique challenges in their markets—were selected by a panel of 60 industry professionals drawn from each respective market.
Cube secured planning permission for the complete redevelopment of the site as a 282,000 sq ft, BREEAM “Excellent” office campus, signed a 15-year pre-let to Unilever and secured £250 million of forward funding from LCN Capital Partners, before being retained as development manager for the project.
Jonathan Lawes, Development Director at Cube RE, said:
“We are thrilled to see Unilever Campus, Kingston recognised with this award. This project is a powerful example of what thoughtful regeneration can achieve: bringing a redundant brownfield site back to life, delivering a highly sustainable and future-proofed workplace for Unilever, and creating long-term value for Kingston. We are proud to have worked alongside Unilever, the local authority and our wider consultant team to help deliver a scheme that will have lasting economic and social benefits for the borough.”
